Which files can you supply?
You add the files to your quote list or to your request. You can use:
- PDF, AI, CDR, DXF, DWG, EPS and SVG (drawings and logos);
- JPG and PNG (photos and images);
- XLSX and CSV (lists, such as numbers or tag lists).
You can send at most 10 files, each at most 10 MB. Together they may not exceed 25 MB. If a file is too large, email it to info@kuyper-graveertechniek.com.
Vector or pixels?
There are two kinds of images.
- Vector files consist of lines and shapes. You can make them larger or smaller without loss of quality. Examples: PDF, AI, CDR, EPS, SVG and DXF.
- Pixel files consist of dots. When enlarged, the edges become blurred. Examples: JPG and PNG.
A vector file is preferred. When engraving and cutting, the machine follows a line. From a vector that line comes directly. From a pixel file we first have to rebuild the line, which takes time and can make the edges less sharp. For a logo a vector is therefore best. Do you only have a JPG or PNG? Feel free to send it, and we will see what can be done with it.
Tips for a good file
- Convert fonts to outlines (in some programs "to curves" or "create outlines"). The text is then fixed and the font is not needed to open the file.
- Work at actual size or to scale. Add the dimensions in the file or in your request, for example "plate 100 × 50 mm".
- Keep it simple. Remove layers that do not matter, such as guide lines or a background that does not belong on the plate.
- State the colour if you have a colour code, such as a RAL colour. The proof shows you what we will make. Colours on a screen may differ from printed colours.
Numbering and lists
Do you have a series of numbers, tags or texts? Supply it as XLSX or CSV, with one line per plate or sticker. For a continuous series, the first and the last number are enough, for example in your request. For valve tags you can upload your tag list with the quote request. Seals with your own series are under seals with your own number sequence.
Templates
For some products there is a fillable PDF template on the product page. There is one for the CSC data plates and for the height & weight labels. If you fill in the template and send it, you do not need to supply anything else.
No file? That is fine too
A drawing, a sketch, a photo of an existing product or a completed template is enough. We turn it into a design ready for production. State the size, the material and the application in your request, if you know them.
What happens next?
After you accept the quote, for custom work you receive as a rule within 2 working days a digital proof (stickers) or a working drawing (engraving) as a PDF by email. We adjust it until you approve it. Only then do we start production. Lead times apply as a rule and are not binding.
Frequently asked questions
Which files can I supply?
PDF, AI, CDR, DXF, DWG, EPS, SVG, JPG, PNG, XLSX and CSV, at most 10 MB per file and 25 MB in total.
Is a JPG of my logo enough?
Sometimes. A vector file is better, because the edges stay sharp. Feel free to send the JPG; we will let you know whether the file can be used.
I have no drawing. What now?
A sketch or a photo of an existing product is enough. Give us the size, material and application, as far as you know them.
